Types of Wood Types of Wood

Our custom countertops, kitchen island tops, and tabletops are available to order in any of the following types of wood.

Walnut MineralWood™Walnut countertops and tabletops

Of all of the woods we offer, our walnut goes through the most intensive process from tree to table. First we aquire top quality rough sawn walnut from one of our regional sources. Then, in order to preserve the natural colors and unique grains of the walnut, we air dry the boards in our solar kiln. Commercial kilns use a process that washes all of the color to a uniform brown, but we want the beauty of the natural walnut to remain. Once the walnut is dried, we select for each project the boards that have the best grain and color to be included and then construct and finish it with the MineralWood™ finish. The walnut finish is rich and refined, with a more subdued color palette than our cherry or red oak. The result is magnetic.

Cherry MineralWood™Cherrywood countertops and tabletops

The cherrywood countertops, island tops, and tabletops have a very unique effect. The colors and graining are bold and eye-catching. The finish brings out a richness in cherrywood that you have not seen before. As with all cherrywood these tops will become darker and richer with time and exposure to sunlight. This look is a striking centerpiece for a room as an island top or dining table. When people see our cherrywood they stop in their tracks to ask what type of wood it is.

Red Oak MineralWood™Red Oak Countertops and Tabletops

The red oak finish strikes a nice balance between the bold and the subtle. The color palette is selected to accentuate the natural golden hue of the oak. Oak countertops and tabletops with the MineralWood finish are a fresh take on the traditional look of oak. The lively graining adds much detail and interest to this classic wood. If you are looking for a traditional style with some not so traditional flavor, you will fall in love with the red oak.

White Oak MineralWood™

White oak MineralWood™ counter and island tops are wonderful for the less formal farmhouse kitchen. We select the wood  and color palette for our white oak counter and island tops to play up some of it's more rustic qualities. The brighter colors present in our other MineralWood™ finishes are left off in favor of more rustic tones. Dark hues that are already present in the natural wood are shaded and highlighted to  give the grain a life  and depth unlike any butcher block style island top you can find elsewhere. Small knots in the wood are incorporated into the design of each piece and the overall effect is one of the handcrafted work of past generations. (No photograph currently available)
