  • My antiques were SHATTERED in a recent move. The china cabinet couldn't even "stand." (It had to be placed upside down. So, not only were my antiques unusable, I thought their value was gone. HOWEVER, within a short period of time, understanding, and EXPERTISE my antiques are now home. You cannot even tell anything was ever wrong with them! I HIGHLY recommend OLD VIRGINIA WOODWORKING. Five stars is not enough. I give them 100 stars or even more. Thank you, OLD VIRGINIA WOODWORKING. I cried when I saw their work (and hugged the woodworker). P.S. NEVER use Nationwide Movers or Jackson Movers.

  • I had 2 furniture pieces that had damage. My table had a tackiness from when it was moved mid summer from OK. My cedar chest had damage to veneer and water damage to the side. You would never know they had damage! So pleased with the workmanship

  • I trusted Don with two very special items in my household. The first being a walnut desk that my dad made in his high school shop class (1970) that had been totally wrecked in a recent move. The movers somehow put about 10 screw holes into the top of the desk, scraping it terribly and losing some piece that allows the drawers to be affixed to the top. Don made it so that you cant even tell there were bug ragged screw holes in top and i think the desk is even more structurally sound than ever! The finish is buttery smooth but Don was sure to leave the markings on the bottom that my dad made while building this piece 50 years ago. The second item was an antique wall clock (c. 1890s) that has been in the family for atleast 3 generations. The clock lived in attics and closets and storage for the last 30 years and was in rough shape. Don made it look period-authentic and fresh, fixing the face and resetting it, hydrating and refinishing the cabinet, cleaning the face and repainting the hands and even ordering and installing a new glass for the face. My dad was incredibly touched to see both pieces and was incredibly impressed with the work. Don is a master at his craft and I will definitely be using his services again!

  • Don gave me a fair estimate for repairing an antique Head and Foot Board. He repaired the items and there like new. He required half down and finished the project in record time. I'm very pleased with his work and highly recommend his business for ant wood repair or refinishing.

  • It’s a hike to get to Don’s shop, but the work he does is worth the effort. We had a bedside cabinet that I had ruined with a leaky CPAP machine and a gate leg table that lost a gate. Don and his apprentices repaired both to better than new condition. If you have fine, real wood furniture, Don is your man. The pricing seems a bit high…until you see the results. Then you realize the cost is almost a bargain!

  • Earlier in our marriage, my wife and I purchased a unique pie safe in good condition.its our favorite piece of furniture in the house. After graduation we decided to have it restored. This was not a piece I wanted just any furnishing shop to redo or work on. I found Don on Facebook and brought it to him. Don immediately was able to give me a lot of information about our pie safe (techniques, material, design philosophy) that isn’t information you can easily find on google. Not gonna lie the price did catch me off guard a little, but I 100% would have paid it x2 after seeing the finished product. Don and his years of experience shine through our piece and look forward to handing it down to our kids and hopefully their kids.

  • We wanted a specially designed hutch for our computer, printer, and files. We had searched numerous sites online to try and buy one without success. We took a design to Don and he helped us tweak it and then constructed it for us. We were very pleased with his skill and the finished product. Thanks!
